Competition Guidelines

One of our goals for the Hawaii STEM Conference is to encourage as many participants as possible from all the STEMworks™ labs across the islands. To accomplish this, we host a number of student-centered competitions before and during the conference.

Here are some of the awesome benefits to entering these competitions:

  • The winning student receives well-deserved recognition from his or her peers, school, and community.
  • Entering and winning a regional tech competition looks good on a student’s resumé, especially on college applications.
  • Competing increases self-confidence.
  • Competitions can garner administration support and funding.
  • Competitions provide a positive challenge.
  • Competitions increase experience and growth.
  • Deadlines help develop organization skills and provide “real-world” experience.
