Project East
Originating in Arkansas in 1995, Project EAST or the Environmental And Spatial Technology is a project-based, service-learning program that provides students with the most current, high-end technologies available in the most progressive fields in the world.
Working in teams, EAST students tackle service-oriented projects and in the process, become creative, intuitive, adaptable achievers who can solve unpredictable, real-world problems.
The Women in Technology (WIT) Project selected EAST as a "best practices" model because it believes the program offers the kind of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning environment effective for girls and boys, as well as the kind of real-world relevance girls need to remain interested in a STEM education.
